FREE WNBA Tickets Everywhere for This Weekend's Game at Municipal

NBA Commissioner said that Kansas City's soon-to-be constructed Sprint Center might want to think about a WNBA franchise before it gets its hopes up about seeing Shaq, Kobe, LeBron and others from the men's game.

As if this wasn't disturbing enough, now it appears that thousands of free tickets are being passed around for this weekend's WNBA exhibition game at Municipal Auditorium.

KCMedia has received a half dozen e-mails this week from people who have access to these large ticket giveaways. One e-mail reprorted that packs of 50 tickets or more were being given away to various organizations around KC.

This practice could lead to drastically inflated attendance numbers, and thus a phony campaign to bring a WNBA team in to KC (no doubt at the taxpayer expense, again). The tenants of the Kemper Arena/American Royal Complex (Knights, Outlaws, Comets, etc.) are probably the worst when it comes to the practice of bloated attendance figures (as in outright lying rather than handing out tickets to put butts in the seats).

Looks like someone with the city's sports commission or maybe with the "Win for KC" group has taken initiative to raise attendance figures the old fashion way (no I'm not talking about free booze at the door.....although that could be another possibility). Look for this WNBA exhibition to draw a surprising number of fans....10-12,000 when it's all said and done (and expect only a third of that figure to be actual paying customers).
